In 2004, Purcell was appointed as a Deputy Coroner, and then in 2016, she was elected Coroner of Kendall County, Illinois. She is a certified death investigator and peace officer, and she told Start TV, "I take pride that I can help a family navigate through this tragedy and come out on the other side, and still be okay."
