Angela Lansbury was stunning, even when Hollywood tried to make her ugly
Posted: February 17, 2025, 9:45AMWhy do we let society's unjust beauty standards reign? Who has the right to label someone as beautiful or 'an uglie'? We all have our unique tastes; what's beautiful to one may not be to another.
At the start of her career, Angela Lansbury was typecast in roles like the envious friend. Hollywood tried to box her into this image, but Lansbury's beauty always shone through, despite the frumpy clothes, unkempt hairstyles, or layers of makeup to age her.
Let's look at one example. In Blue Hawaii, the actress was only 35 years old but played Elvis's mom. At the time, Elvis was in his mid-to-late Twenties, just a few years younger than Lansbury. It's not uncommon to have someone in their Thirties play a mother, but the mother of a Twenty-something-year-old is INSANE.
In Murder, She Wrote, Angela showcased herself in the way she wanted to. Age didn't matter, but don't get it twisted. Jessica Fletcher was top-notch, and her attire, plus the words she used, proved that.
As you can see in the header image, Lansbury was truly stunning. Let's debunk the claim that she was an 'uglie.' We reject that word and instead celebrate her unique beauty.
