Erin Sarofsky battled pay inequality by building her own ''matriarchy''
Posted: January 3, 2019, 1:02PMErin Sarofsky is the President, Owner and Creative Director of Sarofsky Corp., where she seeks to be part of the solution when it comes to pay inequality in the entertainment industry. She told Start TV, "I found out that one of my exact peers was making more than twice as me, and I was really upset about it. I was almost upset with myself for not knowing how much I was worth."
Now she leads a group of artists, producers and technologists who create and develop main titles and visual effects for movies and TV series. In 2006, she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for her work on the main title sequence of Ghost Whisperer. At Sarofsky Corp., she feels she's not just setting an example for other women, but also for men getting used to seeing women in positions of power. She said, "Having women in leadership and power positions is important."
