Did Brad Pitt actually call Kyra Sedgwick to congratulate her on her Golden Globe win?

Those are the words Kyra Sedgwick and hundreds of actors, cast, and post-production crew in attendance (and those watching at home) heard at the 2007 Golden Globe Awards. It is the actress' only Golden Globe win despite being nominated eight times (six for The Closer and two for prior film roles).

Award wins are challenging to obtain; even some legends have yet to receive their flowers at the various prestigious award ceremonies. So, when Sedgwick won, it was a massive deal for the actress and the series that debuted in 2005. There were many rumors that Brad Pitt called Sedgwick to congratulate her on the win, but according to the actress, that's false.
"Oh God, I wish," she said to Tulsa World in 2008 when asked if the rumor was true. "But he did say congratulations when I was there. I said, 'Nice to meet you.' He laughed and said, 'We met when you auditioned for Meet Joe Black. You dodged a bullet with that one.' I thought to myself, 'I don't think [not] working with Brad Pitt would have meant I dodged anything.'"
There you have it; so the actor did congratulate her, just not via phone call. The interviewer, Mary Murphy, also asked her if she felt powerful, and Sedgwick gave the most real response we've ever heard.
"Sometimes I do, but it is really a day-to-day thing. I feel more powerful because I know more about who I am and what I need," she added.
At the end of the interview, Murphy asked to look inside Sedgwick's purse because Brenda Leigh Johnson's was always filled with candy.
Laughing, Sedgwick opened her purse, and inside was a wallet, brush, Chapstick, a Mac lipstick called Twig-Twig, and... three bags of chocolate.
"[Laughing] Hey, it's all dark chocolate, so at least it is good for my health."
