Kyra Sedgwick: ''Do one thing a day that's nice for yourself''

  The Everett Collection

This is your sign to be nicer to yourself.

That's for everyone who needed to see those words. We're often hard on ourselves, especially when we fail, and never give ourselves a chance to learn and do better. Celebrities like The Closer's Kyra Sedgwick understand this, especially while working on the show.

"In terms of taking care of yourself, I really think that it's important to do one thing a day that’s nice for yourself. Whether it's going down the street and getting frozen yogurt or an ice cream or something like that or taking a bath or doing something simple," she said during an interview with Oprah.com.

Simple things might not seem like much, but they carry more weight than you think. A bubble bath can help you breathe and calm down. A walk lets you become one with nature, listening to birds sing while enjoying the scenery of a park or lakefront.

Sedgwick also added, "...We’re getting back to doing simple things that don't cost a lot of money. [Things] that really feed our soul. Whether it's listening to a song you really love and singing, or bringing family together for a family meal because it's cheaper than going out, or having your friends over and everyone brings something and you eat together as a group, as a community, as a family."

If there's a recipe you've always wanted to try, gather the ingredients and own the kitchen. If there's a dance you want to learn, lace up your sneakers and groove. Start having moments where you just live.
