"The Most Promising Singer"— Billboard

Have you ever heard a voice so beautiful that it brings tears to your eyes? What about a voice so soothing that, for a minute, you forget about your problems and instead tune into the world of the person singing? When we listen to music, it's hard not to feel the singer's emotions as they belt out words that can make the world stop, along with instruments and harmony.

There are artists whose talents are so innate, they transcend generations. Della Reese is one such artist, a generational singer whose unique talent was not learned, but born within her.

Long before she graced our screens as the angelic Tess in the '90s hit series Touched by an Angel, Della Reese's voice was already a heavenly gift to her listeners. Her career took flight with the 1957 release of "And That Reminds Me", a single that catapulted her to the top of the charts.

It was a hit on pop charts nationwide and sold a million copies. Reese was voted "The Most Promising Singer" by Billboard and other magazines. She then signed a deal with RCA Records.

More success followed, and she eventually received a Grammy nomination for her self-titled album Della. Throughout her music career, Reese stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, solidifying her space in the music industry. Her transition to film and television added another dimension to her career, intriguing her fans and the industry alike.
