Kate Deisseroth, MD, started her career as a mechanical engineer, but soon knew she wanted to help fix people, so she decided to go to medical school. She joined the Air Force, which paid for her graduate education, and spent more than a decade practicing orthopedic surgery at the U.S. Air Force base in Anchorage, Alaska. Kate now practices at the VA Medical Center in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. She is also a single mother to twin 10-year-old boys.

Watch Kate talk about a possible career change in the age of COVID.
