Crossing Jordan

  • Every day at 1 PM Eastern/ Pacific
Following the sudden death of her mother, gifted forensic pathologist Dr. Jordan Cavanaugh (Jill Hennessy) develops an obsession for solving violent crimes. Working in the Boston Medical Examiner’s Office, she teams up with medical examiners like Dr. Trey Sanders (Mahershala Ali), homicide detectives like Woody Hoyt (Jerry O’Connell) and others, all working in their own way to solve a varied assortment of cases.

  • Season

S1/EP 1 - Crossing Jordan (Pilot)

Jordan (Jill Hennessy) suspects that what appears to be a routine teenage prostitute's suicide might in fact be a cover-up for foul play involving important city officials. However, while probing deeper into the girl's death with Detective Collins (guest star Kyle Secor, "Homicide: Life on the Street") -- the investigator on the case -- Jordan could possibly jeopardize her new job or even her own life.

S1/EP 2 - The Dawn of a New Day

Mackenzie Phillips ("One Day at a Time," "So Weird") guest-stars as a waitress whose unusual reaction to the shooting death of her cab driver husband makes Jordan (Jill Hennessy) curious about the real story behind the cabbie's killing. While at the crime scene, Jordan also encounters Edward "Eddy" Winslow (guest star D.W. Moffett, "Traffic," "For Your Love"), the homicide detective involved at the end of her father's career as a cop.

S1/EP 3 - The Ties That Bind

Jordan (Jill Hennessy) goes to prison where she attempts to piece together a scenario to confirm her hunch that the torso of a raped, murdered and dismembered woman belonged to a corrections officer killed on the job. Ironically, Jordan's home life seems too confining as the stress of staying with her father, Max (Ken Howard), and his new girlfriend, Evelyn (guest star Lois Nettleton), causes Jordan to clash with her colleague, Trey (Mahershalalhashbaz Ali).

S1/EP 4 - You Can't Go Home Again

Loyalty stokes Jordan's (Jill Hennessy) desire to figure out how a hero firefighter, Jimmy Donnelly (guest star Tom Bresnahan) -- who was also her childhood best friend, died battling a suspicious blaze. Despite warnings from both her disapproving superior, Dr. Grace Yakura (guest star Tamlyn Tomita) and Det. Eddy Winslow (guest star D.W. Moffett, "Traffic"), Jordan asks Max (Ken Howard) to help her investigate, but they are disappointed by what the evidence points to.

S1/EP 5 - Born to Run

Jordan (Jill Hennessy) finds herself knee deep in strippers and Russian gangsters, when she responds to a suspected murder-suicide at a local gentleman's club. Unconvinced by the police theory of a distraught jealous lover, Jordan enlists the help of her eager colleagues Trey (Mahershalalhashbaz Ali) and Bug (Ravi Kapoor) to reveal more with a detailed investigation of the Russian mob-run club.

S1/EP 6 - Believers

Jordan (Jill Hennessy) investigates the death of a Massachusetts Senator's daughter found stabbed in a park, apparently murdered by her boyfriend. Believing there is more to this case than the police's theory of love gone bad, Jordan reluctantly pairs up with an ethically challenged newspaper reporter, Adam Flynn (guest star Shawn Christian "As the World Turns"), to further investigate the girl's death.

S1/EP 7 - Sight Unseen

The autopsy of a schoolboy killed in a traffic accident leads Jordan (Jill Hennessy) to discover that the pre-teen actually died while being kidnapped along with his female classmate. Despite resistance from Evelyn (guest star Lois Nettleton), Max (Ken Howard) helps Jordan search for the missing girl by contacting some of his old cronies, such as a retired detective (guest star Howard Hesseman, "Head of the Class").

S1/EP 8 - Digger: Part 1

In the first of a special two-part episode, the discovery of a floating corpse forces Jordan (Jill Hennessy) into a nationwide manhunt for a serial killer as she teams up with a famed FBI criminal profiler (Hennessy's former "Law & Order" co-star Chris Noth, who guest-stars) -- and reunites with an unscrupulous reporter (guest star Shawn Christian).

S1/EP 9 - Digger: Part 2

S1/EP 10 - Blue Christmas

When a veteran cop is murdered in the line of duty, Jordan (Jill Hennessy) leads the police and vengeful Detective Eddy Winslow (guest star D.W. Moffett) -- Max' (Ken Howard) former partner -- to a possible suspect. But after the shooter dies in police custody, Garret (Miguel Ferrer) must launch a coroner's investigation to see if Det. Winslow went too far while making the arrest.

S1/EP 11 - Wrong Place, Wrong Time

After a security guard foils a bank robbery, leaving one of the thieves -- disguised as Bill Clinton -- dead, along with a bank customer, Jordan (Jill Hennessy) and Garret (Miguel Ferrer) sort through the remains of the gun battle with the help of friendly Wisconsin native Detective Woodrow Hicks (guest star Jerry O'Connell, "Jerry Maguire") to see who fired the fatal shots. The case strikes a personal note with Garret, as the investigation points less towards a botched bank robbery and more to a contract killing of a wealthy wife by her biker husband (guest star Mark Kiely).

S1/EP 12 - Blood Relatives

The gruesome discovery of a slain mother and her two young sons pulls Jordan (Jill Hennessy) into a triple homicide investigation in which the distraught husband/father, a former hockey star, (guest star Tom Verica, "From Earth to the Moon"), is the only suspect. Pushed by loyalty to her friend Kim (guest star Kristen Wilson), who is also the suspect's attorney, Jordan digs deeper into the case and unearths some troubling images from her own past.

S1/EP 13 - Miracles and Wonders

Jordan's (Jill Hennessy) views on faith are tested as she attempts to scientifically explain how a homeless man -- who claimed to be St. Francis bearing the stigmata -- could have died in a church, and her investigation takes a bizarre twist when the man's body disappears from the morgue.

S1/EP 14 - Four Fathers

When a former student takes a flying leap out of a college dorm window in an apparent drug binge gone bad, Jordan (Jill Hennessy) discovers the boy's attempt at flight came from the room of Kieran Conroy (guest star Rodney Scott) - son of local mob boss Blackie Conroy (guest star Alan Feinstein), directing her suspicions towards murder.

S1/EP 15 - Acts of Mercy

Jordan (Jill Hennessy) catches a suicide case involving a terminally ill senior citizen, re-uniting her with "country bumpkin" Detective Woodrow Hoyt (guest star Jerry O'Connell, "Jerry Maguire"). S1/EP 16 - Lost and Found

A chance encounter with a mysterious suitor (guest star and Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, "Kiss Me Kate") at Max's (Ken Howard) bar, the Pogue Mahone, forces Jordan (Jill Hennessy) to examine her uneventful love life and risk a risqué fling. Meanwhile, Garret (Miguel Ferrer) has a chance meeting of his own when he is reunited with his estranged, grifter father, Harry (guest star Carl Reiner, "The Dick Van Dyke Show," "Ocean's Eleven"). Steve Valentine, Kathryn Hahn, Ravi Kapoor and Mahershalalhashbaz Ali also star.

S1/EP 20 - The Gift of Life

When one of the nation's leading cardiologists dies performing surgery, Jordan (Jill Hennessy) recalls how the arrogant surgeon's malpractice practically mauled her career, and even found her fighting for life after a drug overdose. S1/EP 21 - Someone to Count On

Three-time Emmy winner Jack Klugman ("The Odd Couple," "Quincy") dons coroner's garb again when he guest-stars as Dr. Gelber, a respected senior medical examiner and mentor to Macy (Miguel Ferrer), but while Macy must evaluate Gelber's work for possible errors, Jordan (Jill Hennessy) seeks his assistance with one of her more puzzling cases. S1/EP 23 - Secrets and Lies: Part 2

Sparked by a mysterious gift, Jordan (Jill Hennessy) agrees to dig into a 10-year-old triple homicide in exchange for help from a catatonic mental patient -- the prime suspect in the case who claims to know the identity of her mother's killer. S2/EP 1 - There's No Place Like Home

Three thousand miles from Boston, Jordan (Jill Hennessy) continues her search -- with her unwilling companion, Det. Woody Hoyt (guest star Jerry O'Connell) -- for the man (guest star Jack Laufer) who might know the truth about her mother's murder and put the young medical examiner's childhood demons to rest. In the wake of his notorious coroner's disappearance, Garret (Miguel Ferrer) must stop a brutal serial killer preying on the streetwalkers of Boston, while sizing the auspicious new addition to his department, Dr. Elaine Duchamps (Lorraine Toussaint, "Any Day Now"), and avoiding the political fury surrounding the case while protecting his friend, District Attorney Jack Olson (guest star William Russ).

S2/EP 2 - Bombs Away

Jordan (Jill Hennessy) teams up with the new M.E., Elaine (Lorraine Toussaint), and finds herself in the middle of an ATF power struggle, when she investigates the death of Wendy Marsh, wife of alleged Unabomber-style terrorist and former ATF agent Lester Marsh (Shashawnee Hall) - whose grief and rage over the personal vendetta held against him by a former partner (James Pickens, Jr.), pushes him to strap on some homemade explosives and hold the morgue hostage.
